Valedictorian and Salutatorian 2025
Westfield Names the Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
The Westfield School is pleased to award Spencer Reid Black as the Valedictorian and Jeffrey Wilton Leonard as the Salutatorian for the Class of 2025.
Spencer Reid Black, Valedictorian, is a High Honor Graduate with Distinction and the top average earner in a variety of both Honors and AP course. He is an AP Scholar with honors and a University of Georgia Certificate of Merit Scholar. He has served as a Flint Energies Washington Youth tour delegate, Hugh O Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador and Junior Staff member, and a Georgia Independent School Association Leadership Advisory Council member. Reid is a graduate of the Perry Youth Leadership program and was recognized as a Student of the Month by the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a 2024 Governor’s Honors nominee in the field of communicative arts. He was awarded a 2025 United Way of Central Georgia’s Golden Eagle honorable mention award in Journalism, an accomplishment that is reflective of his having dedicated a portion of his senior year to founding the school newspaper. He also used his communicative talents as a freelance writer for the Houston Home Journal and in creating and hosting the Dawg Football Weekly podcast. Reid has been an integral member of the varsity basketball team, varsity baseball team, and varsity cross country team. A student leader, he serves as chaplain of the senior class and as a member of the Upper School Student Council, Beta Club, Key Club, Prayer Club, and Green Team. Reid has volunteered many hours of service to his community, the Perry Methodist Church as a Youth Bible Study Leader, and Westfield’s youth sports camps in the spirit of mentoring future Westfield Hornet athletes. Reid is the son of Andrea and Spencer Black. Upon graduation, he will attend the University of Georgia.
Jeffrey Wilton Leonard, Salutatorian, is graduating with High Honors with Distinction and has earned top average awards in all academic classes. Wilt is a national AP Scholar with honor, Westfield’s 2025 STAR Student, a 2024 Governor’s Honors finalist in mathematics, and a 2025 Golden Eagle nominee in the category of mathematics. He is a Georgia Scholar and the recipient of numerous academic awards including the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit, Wofford College Scholar Award, Presbyterian College Fellow Scholar Award, the President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Clarkson University High School Leadership Award, Future Baron Scholar, and the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award. His leadership acumen is further exemplified by being selected as a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program All-Star and in participating in the National Youth Leadership Forum at Emory University, Perry Youth Leadership, and United Way Leadership Program. Wilt has served as Vice President of the City of Perry’s Youth Advisory Council. He has been recognized as a Perry Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month. Wilt has been involved in community service and has served as an active member of Westfield’s varsity football team, Peer Leadership team, Key Club, Beta Club, and Pickleball Club. Wilt is the son of Robin and Jeff Leonard. Upon graduation, he will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology.Congratulations, Reid and Wilt!
